IDC China computer system research assistant director Wang Jiping pointed out that in 2013, the main growth of smart terminals in the mainland came from smartphones, and the next two years will continue to show a rapid growth trend. IDC forecasts that the mainland smartphone market will grow at an annual rate of 44 percent in 2013, with about 300 million units shipped.

In contrast, desktop computers and notebooks, by mobile phones and tablets grab the market impact, the overall annual growth rate is only close to 4%, and respectively estimated that in 2013, mainland notebook shipments of about 35 million units, desktop computers for 43 million. Tablet shipments are expected to grow more than 20% to 12 million units in 2013, spurred by Microsoft's Windows RT and price competition. It is estimated that by 2016, the shipment of the mainland smart terminal market will reach 560 million units.

It is worth noting that as the concept of intelligent terminals is gradually accepted by consumers and commercial customers, the overall brand loyalty will be established, and the competition in the next few years will be based on the competition of scale, including research and development, procurement, sales, and marketing. IDC pointed out that in the next 2 to 3 years, the brand competition of smart terminals will gradually focus on 10 to 15 brands, and the products of manufacturers will cover PC, tablet devices, mobile phones and other categories.

The boundaries of personal terminal products are increasingly blurred, including Lenovo, Asus, Acer, also agree that the future war toward PC, tablet, smartphone three-in-one competition mode, so also actively layout mobile phone market, Lenovo has taken the mainland smartphone market second largest, second only to Samsung, but the gap between the two is small, Lenovo is likely to take the first place in the mainland smartphone market in the fourth quarter, which will become the main force to promote Lenovo's continued growth.

According to IDC data in the third quarter, the total shipments of notebooks, tablets and mobile phones in the three categories, Samsung has surpassed Apple and won the global leader, Apple has retreated to the second place, Lenovo, HP, Dell are separated in the third to fifth.
